• Culture

Culture vultures can get their fill of museums, art galleries, Anglo/Boer/Zulu/bullet slinging/spear throwing battle sites. Southern Africa’s history is flavoured by a variety of exotic influences and there’ll be something to suit everyone’s taste. Just don’t expect 1 000 year old cathedrals. This icons covers all cultural interests.
  • Nature in South Africa

There is lots of it. And most of it is protected so there are huge tracts of unspoilt loveliness that will have any nature lover coming back for more. This icon indicates naturally beautiful areas away from any major civilisation.

Soweto Adrenaline Combo Tour

Soweto tour combined with the exciting Orlando Power Swing and Bungi

The Hector Peterson Memorial. The now famous image of a young man holding a dying, young schoolboy in his arms, as his hysterical sister runs besides him screaming. This photograph epitomised the pain and suffering South Africa endured and dominated the recent 25th anniversary of the Soweto uprising when South Africa's black youth challenged the white apartheid government in 1976 . (45min stop)

A drive by the Mandela Family House, for a photo opportunity, entrance optional (~R60), then across to Vilikazi Street - which is the only street in the world that houses 2 Nobel Prize winners - Nelson Mandela and Bishop Tutu. (15 min tour)

We visit the Regina Mundi Cathedral which introduces you to the world renown Black Madonna. (25 min stop)

We also take a further 25 min guided tour through one of the historically rich suburbs of Soweto and interact with some of the locals.

It doesn’t end there... and this is only for the brave and adventurous! We take an adrenaline turn to the Orlando Power Station which has been transformed into one of South Africas top hotspots within historical Soweto.

The towers offer you the first ever swing between two cooling stations in the in the world - a dizzy 100m up from the ground! And they're not just any towers! They were originally built for the Orlando Power Station which was the most advanced facility in the Southern hemisphere in its day. Although the station is no longer in operation, you can still FEEL THE POWER!!! own cost and risk.

Apartheid Museam
After a few hours at the Apartheid Museum you will feel that you were in the townships In the 70s and 80s, dodging police bullets or teargas canisters, or marching and toy-toying with thousands of school children, or carrying the body of a comrade into a nearby house.
This extraordinarily powerful museum has already become the city's leading tourist attraction, an obligatory stop for visitors and residents alike. The Museum, with its large blown-up photographs, metal cages and numerous monitors recording continuous replays of apartheid scenes set in a double volume ceiling, concrete and red brick walls and gray concrete floor, is next to the Gold Reef City Casino, five kilometres south of the city centre.
