A huge game conservancy, Kwa Madwala specialises in open 4x4 safaris into the Kruger, Greater Kruger and Kwa Madwala Reserve. In fact, they offer everything to do with safaris: elephant-back, microlight, horse-back, walking safaris and night drives.
The Kwa Madwala Rustic Day Spa is situated in a private lookout deck in the Manyatta Rock Camp which overlooks the reserve.
Accommodation options include an awesome backpacker establishment and bush playground, a superb 3-star lodge, a bush camp and a stunning upmarket rock camp.
Gazebo Game Lodge (3 star) and Kingfisher Bush Camp have beautiful thatched spaces that overlook 2 large croc filled dams. (No skinny-dipping please - fingers are fair game when it comes to snapping jaws on a snack-attack.)
They have 10 years of experience in volunteer and gap year programmes for school leavers and those taking a career break. Courses combine conservation work (like tracking leopards) and local community work with bushloads of fun.
If you can bear to leave, you’ll find river rafting and bridge swinging nearby. Just remember to return to base for tasty meals and stories under the African skies...
