In the Mdumbi River valley in the heart of rural Transkei, this small settlement on the coast has brilliant surf and great fishing. As there’s only one small shop, we suggest that self-caterers stock up before arriving.

Directions
Turn left off Coffee Bay Road onto Umdumbi Road (5km outside Coffee Bay). Follow Mdumbi signs, ± 23km.

Mdumbi is Fair Trade accredited, with the staff and the Mankosi community owning 50% of the business. All the adventure activities are 100% community owned, so you can learn to surf, kayak, horse ride, do guided hikes to a cave and the village or relax with a massage in the Spa knowing that you are making a direct difference.
