His knowledge of Cape Town’s apartheid history, paired with his engaging storytelling, made the tour both educational and deeply moving. From St George’s Cathedral and Desmond Tutu's legacy to the poignant “apartheid benches” and District Six, every stop was meaningful and thoughtfully explained.
The highlight for me was standing at the spot where Mandela gave his first speech as a free man—Geoff’s insights made that moment feel alive. His passion for history and his ability to connect past events to the present is truly remarkable.
And to top it all off, in the Company’s Gardens, a squirrel climbed up and perched on Geoff’s shoulder as he shared his version of the gardens’ history! It felt like even the wildlife recognized his gift for storytelling. haha!

We traveled comfortably through the Cape of Good Hope National Park and some incredible, lesser-known beaches, including a special, more private penguin viewing. His expertise was far beyond what we could have ever hoped. We also returned back through Chapman’s Peak.

He was engaging, flexible, and extremely knowledgeable. Geoff was able to answer every question we threw at him while keeping both adults and teens interested while taking some great pictures of our family. He even arranged a great lunch reservation for us, which made the day seamless.

From the very first moment we met him on the walking wine tour, his genuine warmth and desire to make our experience as special as possible was so clear. What began as an exceptional tour quickly turned into something far more meaningful.

While we were travelling around South Africa, Geoff stayed in touch, and when we returned to Cape Town he incredibly offered to pick us up from the airport and drive us to our accommodation, refusing any payment, purely out of kindness. He then spent our final day taking us around the Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Beach, sharing his incredible knowledge and stories along the way, before ending the day with a Braai at his home.

This level of generosity, hospitality and care is truly one of a kind. Geoff’s deep knowledge of South African history, combined with his kindness and authenticity, made us feel so welcomed and looked after. We undertook two walks, brilliantly curated by “Tour Guide Extraordinaire” Geoff Heald: the Kirstenbosch to Constantia Wine Walk; and, the Stellenbosch Wine Walk. Both take in breathtakingly beautiful scenery and exquisite wine tastings. The walks were taken at a gentle pace, with frequent stops, where Geoff briefs the group on the sights and sounds and history of the area. Questions are encouraged and responded to with enthusiasm and extensive knowledge.

Group sizes are deliberately kept small, which encourages participants to get to know one another, which adds to the overall wonderful experience. Geoff’s gentle humour further adds to the bonhomie of the occasion.

We’d absolutely recommend one of Geoff’s walks as a great way of whiling away a few hours in great company, seeing beautiful scenery and getting to know delicious wines.

I had no idea what to expect, but it was outstanding. Not only was Geoff knowledgable about the wineries themselves, but the history and knowledge about some of South Africa's historical figures that played a role in developing Constantia was amazing and took the whole experience to the next level. What if the weather is bad?
A: Cape Town’s weather can change quickly. We check conditions the day before and may reschedule hikes or adjust routes slightly. For wine walks and most full-day experiences, light rain often isn’t an issue — but we prioritise safety and comfort.
